The concept of Timeshare is an interval of time, sometimes called vacation ownership
It is a property with a divided form of ownership or use of rights, which is in most cases a week or points which present a certain time in the specified size of the accommodation, apartment or villa in a specific ”home” resort property.
Marriott introduced Marriott Vacation Club international in 1984, which became the first large hospitality company to enter the timeshare industry.
Marriott Vacation Club now provides a memorable vacation experience for more than 450.000 members worldwide for over 30 years, Marriott has been a trusted name in the vacation ownership
Marriott timeshares are now among some of the most desirable in the industry. The company currently boasts a selection of more than 75 resorts in vacation hot spots like Florida, Hawai Europe, and Thailand, Indonesia, and others around the globe .. Marriott timeshare resorts offer many spacious and luxurious accommodations with many options and benefits.
You can choose the type of Marriott ownership that will work best for your future holidays
Weeks Ownership- only available on the resale market
Points Ownership
Timeshare Resales are timeshares for sale by owners who no longer wish to use them
If an owner has purchased a timeshare or vacation club membership from a developer and no longer wishes to retain their ownership as outlined within their agreement, they have a number of options available to them. One of these options is to sell their ownership, hence the term Resale.
Discounts, Discounts, Discounts! Resales are such a great deal that you should never purchase from a timeshare presentation. A typical Marriott resale will cost $3,200 – $15,000. Anything pricier is typically a fixed holiday week. A resale for week 51or 52 in Marriott Phuket beach Club will cost you about $28,000.
Compared to $58,000, and up, directly from Marriott, vs. $5,000 resale – you can see the cost-saving you have from buying on the secondary market instead of from the developer as the saving are substantial with up to 70% OFF THE RETAIL COST.
Resort Developers such as Marriott Vacation Club have high overhead cost that does not exist on the resale market.
For example, a Resort Developer must pay for things like employee salaries, sales commission, sales facility and promotional materials and incentive that adds ten of thousands of dollars on the final sale price and passed to the consumer.
When you purchase a resale you will pay the current market price depending on the current market trends for that property saving substantial money while have the same advantage as if you bought from Developers.
It makes no difference if you purchased your timeshare from the developer or resale company even if it was gifted to you by a friend or relative your “right of use” for your timeshare week or points are the same.
The Sales Representative of a developer want you to believe that when you buy a resale you consider as a 2e class Member and will get 2e class service This is not true and is only an attempt to buy from them for their commission
Owner service deals professionally with all owners no matter where or how they purchased their timeshare ownership. When purchasing a resale you are simply taking over an existing Marriott membership and becoming a new Marriott owner.
You are not buying a copy product or an inferior membership as some salespeople will try to make you believe.

Marriott weeks ownership
Marriott timeshare ownership can be divided into specific weeks of ownership and identified as timeshare calendar weeks and provided as an ”Floating weeks”
Floating calendar weeks are able to be reserved from a range of weeks during the year sorted by highest demand into different seasons in your home resort
The seasons are Silver, Gold, Platinum and Platinum +
They are usually designated as Silver for low season (PBC don’t have silver weeks) Gold for midseason, Platinum for high season and Platinum + also know as fix week for super high like Christmas and New Year weeks.
The calendars on this page can be great for finding what season to buy.
Maintenance fees are the annual charges which you pay when you own a timeshare interest. The annual maintenance fees are the owner’s assurance for the upkeep of the resort in which they own. The fees are usually billed by the management company of the resort in which the owner owns the timeshare interest, or by the owner’s committee. Maintenance fees are generally evaluated by the number of units and weeks at any one given resort, coupled with the common areas, facilities, and operating costs.
All this can be done by Marriott owner service and there is no preference given to booking or exchanges for those that purchased at the full price directly, over and above owners of resale ownership

As with many things in life, one size doesn’t fit all in a timeshare. In order to determine which type of ownership is best for you will have to ask yourself the following questions.
• What is my budget?
Weeks can be found for extremely affordable prices, some below $4,000.00 on the resale market.
While still less than a quarter of what is charged at a presentation, Club Points purchases on the resale market start above the $7,000.00 mark.

You can view current Asia Points Listings by clicking the link.
• What location(s) do I wish to travel to?
Buying a week in your preferred season allows you to have more assurance you’ll be able to travel in the season you prefer.
Booking with points, it’s first come, first served, so you’ll want to book as early as possible for the most desirable times.
Marriott weeks are deeded to a particular resort, unit type, and specific week or floating season. Owners can make reservations at their resort up to 12 months in advance. If you are interested in a specific season at a specific resort, and prefer a full week to shorter stays, your best bet is to buy a resale week (especially if you need Christmas or New Year's).
When Marriott's points program was introduced, it was touted as a way to provide Marriott owners with more flexibility and vacation choices. Under the points program, owners purchase a block of "Vacation Club Points" without a home resort, and they can use those points to reserve any unit size, duration, and season at any resort within the system, so long as they have sufficient points. Owners can use their annual allotment of points to book single nights, weekends, or longer stays. This additional travel flexibility is valued by many owners, but some owners feel their ability to make reservations was diminished after converting to points, due to the smaller pool of inventory available to them
As always, expert knowledge can really expedite the process of determining your perfect vacation solution. We would be happy to assist you with any questions you have regarding Marriott Vacation Club
AP resale only sell MARRIOTT ASIA PACIFIC CLUB POINTS and not MARRIOTT Destination Points
• When in the year do I like to travel?
Weeks are great for those who want to travel to one location most years, with the option to trade if they choose to go elsewhere.
Club points are great for resort hoppers that wish to travel to a new location each year.
No resale weeks or resale Club points can NOT be traded into Marriott Bonvoy rewards
The option is to trade your weeks or Asia pacific Club points into Marriott Bonvoy program and then use it truly the Marriott hotels
This option is the less attractive of the program as you swap for example your Marriott Phuket 2 bedroom villa which sleeps 6 or 8 people and to trade it into Marriott Bonvoy points and have an average of 2/3 night for 2 people in the JW Marriott Phuket at a Category 6 hotel while having the same facilities
This is same for the ASIA pacific points as you want to trade the amount of club points needed to stay for a week you get out 2/3 days in the hotel especially now Bonvoy started with offpeak/standard/peak points value
Those who want to stay in Marriott hotels can, of course, pay cash, as the cost of the maintenance fee for a week, in many circumstances, only gives a similar or less value in Marriott Bonvoy Points. After all, if you have saved up to 70% off the cost of the membership you may find that having the option to trade for Marriott Bonvoy Points is not so important.
As an owner of a Marriott Vacation Club resale ownership you can still join the Marriott Bonvoy program for free, and still collect Marriott Bonvoy points when you spend money in Marriott hotels/resorts and when paying the annual maintenance fee using a Marriott Bonvoy credit card. You just cannot trade your timeshare membership into Marriott Bonvoy points. As a Marriott Bonvoy member, you can buy Marriott Bonvoy points each year for around $625 for 50,000 points. Another good way of collecting Marriott Bonvoy Points is by sending referrals to Marriott developers know as Friendshare or having a Marriott Bonvoy credit card.
If you really value having the Marriott Bonvoy Points option included in your Marriott Vacation Club timeshare membership then we advise that you purchase directly from Marriott Vacation Club at and pay the full price for the ownership.
Marriott resale weeks can NOT enroll in the Destination points program
Enrollment is an option where you can select your week every year into Destination points and use the benefits of Destination points program the one-off payment for enrollment is about now $699 from the previous $2595 or even given free to members coming into a preview tour as many weeks members don’t want to enroll there weeks also you have an additional year fee from $205-$270 on the top of your maintenance fee
The main concern is that like for like comparisons you need 20-30% more points to stay if would stay with your week
An example if you enroll your Phuket Beach Gold week which gives you 2500 Destination Points
And want to stay in the same season in with Destination points in Phuket you need 3270 Destination points and in Europe at Gold season 3000-4000 points
You have more flexibility and owner benefit levels as the Salesperson make you believe and then have to buy a minimum of 1000 POINTS at full price just to cover the extra points to stay for a week, which you already had week for week even before enrolling in Destination points
If you prefer to have to flexibility and the owner benefit level or want to add to your holiday portfolio you can purchase Marriott Asia pacific resale points
Asia pacific resale points have the same usage as the Destination points except not to trade into Bonvoy Marriott points other than that everything is the same with booking window benefits with the Owner benefit levels example if you own more than 4000 points you have right as long the membership to have Marriott Platinum Elite Status
Marriott Destination points have an additional year fee of $205-$270.

Interval International is the exchange company with which Marriott Vacation Club is affiliated to facilitate owners of Marriott Vacation Club timeshares to exchange to other resorts worldwide. Other luxury timeshare brands are also affiliated with Interval International, such as Starwood, Four season, Hyatt, and other timeshare brands.
Interval International is the industry's largest international timeshare exchange companies, Interval International makes exchanging timeshares easy.

Whether you own fixed weeks, floating weeks, or points, there are a variety of timeshare exchange options available through the II vacation exchange network with over 3200 properties in over 80 nations.
Whether you buy an Interval International-affiliated timeshare directly from Marriott Vacation Club or on the resale market up to 70 % lower price, it does not make any difference if you are the original owner or the owner of a timeshare resale ownership you are still eligible to purchase an II membership and exchange within its vast network of quality resorts.
Why, then, would you pay full price for a timeshare when you could buy one on the resale market at a significantly lower price? And have access to exactly the same including stays at Marriott Vacation Club resort, and other brandname timeshare resort, as a direct from a developer
There is no standard value assigned to each individual timeshare within a resort on the resale market because each timeshare differs in variables such as the week owned, season, unit size, demand and location of the Resort, amount of club points. Therefore, the best way to begin determining a timeshare’s value is to use the average asking price of other owners at your resort that own similar timeshare like yours and were successfully transferred from the original owner to the new owner
Beware there are resale company asking money upfront for listing your week and put list your weeks at the price you bought or even higher, often these weeks will stay on their listing as they don’t look for resale the week but just for getting an annual fee from the owner
This is one what a Marriott sales rep implicate that if you buy a resale you buy the debt off the owner as well so you better safe to buy a membership at full price Be reassured this is not the case it impossible to transfer ownership with any outstanding debt
Marriott Vacation Worldwide will issue any transfer documentation the ownership must be debt-free, with the maintenance fee payments current.
The money you pay for the resale timeshare is always held in an escrow account and will not be released to the seller until the completion of the transfer is confirmed, therefore you have no risk.
